– Students of the Logistics specialty received tools that seek to facilitate their entry into the world of work. The initiative is part of a series of programs that the company has to promote the training of local talent and contribute to regional development.
In an emotional ceremony, 44 students from the Liceo Polivalente Las Salinas de Talcahuano received their certification for the course “Maritime Container Inspection Techniques” and the “Excel Course”, which were taught by OTEC Murillo and Partners, thanks to an alliance between the establishment and Blumar.
The training lasted 40 hours and tried to provide greater tools to students, who are studying the Logistics specialization, to enter the world of work.
The director of the Las Salinas de Talcahuano Multipurpose High School, Luis Echeverría, assured that the event is a great opportunity and thanked for its realization. “For a municipal establishment like ours, where resources are always few, the fact that a company as important as Blumar has chosen us to support us with training is very important,” he highlighted.
For his part, Blumar’s Logistics Deputy Manager, Marcelo Álvarez, explained that they approached the high school years ago, through the Logistics Community of Talcahuano (Comlog). “During the last few years, we began cycles of visits with teachers to the process plants, we showed them the export cycles, we received dual students and now we get to contribute to the training,” he added.
He explained that “we believe that a young person with a specialty in Logistics should master basic concepts of container movement, because it is the most common type of export. In addition, the region has a very important volume in all its ports. On the other hand, the use of Excel is essential in all operations, so this gives them a tool to more easily enter the world of work.”
Blumar develops many actions linked to education, promoting the training of students from school establishments, especially in the technical-professional field, as a way of generating real opportunities for communities and contributing to training new talents for the territories.
