Through an entertaining comedy routine, comedian Pablo Zamora motivated attendees to commit to the company’s safety culture. At the meeting, attendees also learned about the results of the company’s 2016 Sustainability Report.

Blumar held an expanded security meeting for the second consecutive year, bringing together representatives from joint committees from Talcahuano, Coronel, Corral, and Puerto Montt.

In this version, the event also included members of its unions and employees from the Administration area from both the Fishing and Salmon divisions in Talcahuano.

The event featured comedian and Commercial Engineer Pablo Zamora, who, through his character Professor Salomón, delivered a motivational talk called The Safety Formula. Through humor, the comedian reviewed each of the concepts that allow managing workplace safety, especially regarding self-care.

Felipe Hormázabal, Head of Sustainability and Labor Relations at Blumar, explained that these meetings allow those participating in the different functions involved in safeguarding health and occupational safety in the company to share experiences and learn about the guidelines the company promotes in these areas.

During the meeting, a professional from Mutual de Seguridad also presented on the scope of the Protocol for Monitoring Psychosocial Risks at Work, which will be applied for the second time among Blumar employees.

“It is a questionnaire that workers must voluntarily and anonymously answer to identify the presence and level of exposure to psychosocial risks within an organization”, explained Manuel Mena, Head of the Department of Psychology of Safety and Health at Work at Mutual de Seguridad.

The issue is currently of vital importance in all labor systems due to the impact that occupational diseases related to workers’ mental health now have on global statistics.

Sustainability Report Results

The expanded security meeting also served as a venue for Blumar’s General Manager, Gerardo Balbontín, to present the results of the company’s 2016 Sustainability Report, the first exercise through which the company reported on its social, environmental, and economic activities. At the event, recognition was given to Blumar workers who participated in the preparation of the report, and the formal presentation of the document was made to the Presidents of the company’s unions.
