Wednesday, July 14, 2021.- Aware that one of the needs of residents living in the Agua Fresca sector is the lack of food, Blumar Magallanes delivered 80 family baskets.
The request was made by the Neighbors’ Association of the sector, who conducted a census of families facing difficult times. “With the pandemic, needs are increasingly greater among neighbors. Indeed, in the rural sector we need food and firewood to heat our homes. The help that the company is providing will serve to supply neighbors with non-perishable food, since many times for economic reasons they have to choose between buying firewood or food. This will allow them to allocate part of their income to the purchase of firewood, since at this moment due to the climate situation we need that vital element”, highlighted Rodrigo Ojeda, president of the Neighbors’ Association of Agua Fresca.
One of the residents is Juana Igor, who explained: “It seems really great to me. Given everything that is happening, with the pandemic issue it becomes much more complicated to acquire food supplies. Here it is much farther to reach the city, plus the snow, the cold, and there is also a lot of need in the sector, so it is really great that they come to make this delivery to the neighbors”.
Likewise, Mirna Soto, attended the delivery of food boxes representing 17 neighbors of the sector, who are mostly seniors. “It seems good to me. When I spoke with them they told me it was very good. Many who have never received anything will now have a basket”, she highlighted.
This new support strengthens the relationship that neighbors have maintained with the company since 2019, when Blumar Magallanes announced the construction of a fish farm at kilometer 15 of Route 9 south, a project that could materialize in 2022. “If we are going to be another neighbor in the sector, we have to act like a good neighbor. In these difficult times, where there are people who have had some problems because of the pandemic, we extend our hand to them and we can deliver this small help. We are very happy to be able to support something so that the people of the sector are more comfortable”, clarified Ignacio Covacevich, manager of Blumar Magallanes.
